Stella holds a special place in cherry history β it was one of the first sweet cherry varieties bred to be self-fertile, opening up backyard cherry growing to gardeners without space for multiple trees. Large, dark red fruit with rich, sweet flavour and a track record of consistent, heavy production make it a perennial favourite.
Self-fertile β one tree will produce on its own. For a significantly larger harvest, plant alongside another sweet cherry variety. Great options from our collection include Lapins, Bing, and Van. More pollinators = more bounty!
Prefers full sun. Water regularly in the first season. Ripens in mid-July. Hardiness Zone: 4β5 β best suited to southern Ontario and sheltered locations.
